A thought from George Ford
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your
light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
Reflection
St. John, speaking of Jesus, tells us that light has come into the world through Him (John 3:19). When we walk in the ways Jesus taught we shine with that Light. The Light of His Spirit. A Light St. Matthews tells us that cannot, and should not be hidden. Even on these darkest days of mid winter I can look out and see the lights of the houses on the other side of the valley. They just cannot be hidden. When we allow the light of Jesus – His love, His hope, and His peace living us to radiate out from us like light, we can light up other people’s darkness so that they too might experience something of His love hope and peace.
Prayer
Loving Lord Jesus who did tell His disciples they were the Light of the World; so strengthen us with your Spirit that we too might be Lights of your, love hope, and peace shining into the dark place of the lives of those around us. To your everlasting praise and glory. Amen.
Worship
Walk in the light, walk in the light, walk in the light, walk in the light of the Lord. The Spirit lives in you and me, Walk walk in the light, His light will shine for all to see, Walk walk in the light. Walk in the light, walk in the light, walk in the light, walk in the light of the Lord.
