A thought from George Ford
‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.’
(John 15:9&12)
Reflection
Those are Jesus words to his closest friends – his disciples – on the night be for He died. Love takes many forms, and is truly expressed in very many different ways St Paul writing to the Roman city of Corinth lists them as being patient, kind and un-envying. As protective and never self-seeking. Always trusting, hopeful – true and persevering. Numerous poets and pop song writers down the years have expressed it in all those ways – and more. But as Oscar Hammerstein once wrote “love is not love until it is given away.” May we be givers of love in what ever circumstance we find ourselves today, and in the future too.
Prayer
Loving Lord Jesus who in you great love for the Father and for us, did open wide your arms on the cross to die for our forgiveness; strengthen us anew with your Spirit that in all we do we too might love others as you love us. To the praise of your name.
Amen

A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you. A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another as I have loved you. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.
