A thought from George Ford
A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If
you are wiling, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He
reached out his hand and touched the man, “I am willing,” he said.
“Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
(Mark 1:40-42)
Reflection
We all have the need to to feel the touch of human love and compassion. In both the physical sense and to feel it within our heats and minds too. In Jesus’ day (and in some places still today) leprosy was so greatly feared that suffers needed to live away from everyone else. But Jesus reached out and touched him – and healed him. How wonderful that touch must have felt! They may not have leprosy, but many today live segregated from society because of their addiction, mental illness, homelessness, or disability or simply live alone. They too need to feel the touch of others, and the touch of Jesus and His healing love in their lives.
Prayer
Loving Lord Jesus we thank you your great love and power to heal. Reach out, we pray and touch all whose lives feel separated from others for whatever the reason. May they today feel the touch of your love and compassion and know your healing power in their lives – And give you thanks. To the praise of your name.
Amen.
Worship
When I feel the touch of your hand upon my life it causes me to sing a song that I love you Lord. So from deep within my spirit singeth unto Thee, you are my king, You are my God, and I love you Lord.
