A thought from George Ford
‘Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:23-25)
Reflection
God’s love as seen in Jesus draws us to each other. Bringing us together like a family. As His ‘family’ we express love through good deeds and the encouragement of each other as we meet together. We do not know the Day of Jesus promised return but know we are forever getting nearer. Therefore both our worship of the Lord and our encouragement in faith gains increasing importance and significance.
Prayer
Loving Lord Jesus we praise and thank you for the living hope you gave us of everlasting life with you, and for the gift of your Spirit to live in us. Strengthen that Spirit with in us, we pray, that we may so encourage one another with your love and deeds inspired by your Spirit, that we will forever worship you, our Lord and Saviour.
Amen.
Worship
‘Faithful one, so unchanging. Ageless one, You’re my rock of peace. Lord of all I depend on you. I call out to you again and again. You are my rock in times of trouble You lift me up when I fall down. All through the storm Your love is the anchor. My hope is in You alone.’
(Brian Doerksen 1989)
