A thought from George Ford
‘My command is this: Love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.’
John 15:12-13
Reflection
We may not be called upon to literally lay down our lives as those we remember with gratitude tomorrow and again on Sunday, but Jesus is telling His closest followers on the night before His own death that they (and all who follow Him) should devote our lives to serving the needs of others before our own in whatever way we can.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we remember with grateful, and thankful hearts all those who have fought and died in cause of peace and freedom; and those who continue to do so today. Strengthen, we pray, all those who now suffer in mind or body as a consequence of war. Grant that their example of selfless service might be an inspiration to us as we seek to serve the needs of others. To the praise and glory of your name.
Amen
Worship
This is our God the servant King. He calls us now to follow Him. To bring our lives as a daily offering of worship to the Servant King. So let us learn how to serve and our lives enthrone Him: Each others needs to prefer for it is Christ we’re serving. This is our God the servant King. He calls us now to follow Him. To bring our lives as a daily offering of worship to the Servant King.
