A thought from George Ford
‘I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.’ Psalm 121:1-4
Reflection
Just as during each lockdown we have found the natural world to be good for our physical and mental well being, so the Psalmist found the sturdy, calm and serene hills good for his spirit. A constant reminder of God’s ever present strength, love, and calmness being there with him as surely as the immoveable hills.
Prayer
Heavenly Father in all our busyness may we also see reminders of you. In the natural world around us, the sounds of laughter, birds song , the love and care shown for others. Whatever it might be, may it remind us of your steadfast love, and ever strengthening Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen.
Worship
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills, in the press of a busy day: As green hills stand in a dusty land, so God is my strength and stay. I lift my eyers to the quiet hills, to a calm that is mine to share: secure and still in the Father’s will, And kept by the Father’s care. (Timothy Dudley-Smith, 1968)
