A thought from George Ford

‘Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money & without cost.’

‘Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.’ (Isaiah 55:1&6)

Reflection

Two verses from the Prophet Isaiah‘s call to the ‘thirsty’ exiled people of God. The thirst he speaks of is a spiritual and emotional one. Those times when our lives seem empty and pointless. When we ‘thirst’ for better, less difficult or distressing times. To come to Him and ‘drink’ in of God’s love, and His forgiveness through Jesus, gives us a new Spirit, to sustain even the deepest longings of our heart.

Prayer

Heavenly Father you love us with such unconditional love, and know the deepest longings of our heart. Help us to come to you and drink of your great love, forgiveness, and receive your enriching Spirit to uphold and sustain us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Worship

‘As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you. You alone are my hearts desire and I long to worship you. You alone are my strength and shield, to you alone may my spirit yield. You alone are my hearts desire and I long to worship you.’ (Martin Nystrom 1983)
