A thought from George Ford
“And now these three remain Faith, Hope, and love. But the
greatest of these is love.” (1 Cor 13:13)
Reflection
At the beginning of the same chapter St. Paul wrote that if we did not have love we were a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. Love is greatest gift of the Holy Spirit. It undergirds all of the other freely given gifts of the Spirit we receive through belief and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It manifests itself in many ways, but as Oscar Hammerstein once wrote Love is not Love until it is given away. My we express love in all we do.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Loving Lord, may we always know the fullness of your love in our hearts, and strengthened by your Spirit express it in, and by, all we do. To the praise and glory of your name. Amen.
Worship
Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven to earth come down. Fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown. Jesus thou art all compassion, pure unbounded love thou art; Visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart. (Charles Wesley 1707-88)
